90 Years Of Touring Magazine

While the Touring and Automobile Club of Turkey is leaving its 97th year behind, Touring Magazine is still meeting the readers in its 90th year. It was first published in French in 1930 as the “Touring Club Bulletin” by the Touring Club, which is the same age as our Republic, and our magazine is also the longest-running one in the country.

The magazine was published by the late Reşit Saffet Atabinen in 278 issues from 1930 until his death in 1965. Between 1965 and 2010, only 97 issues were issued. In 2013, the 376th issue was published after a long break. Since then, the Touring Magazine has been published quarterly without interruption in 29 issues.

In the beginning, there were articles on history, culture, tourism, traffic and law in the Touring Magazine. Today, however, travel articles from Turkey and the world, articles on architecture, nostalgic automobile introduction pieces, interviews, news about the services of the Club and pieces on arts and culture are included and the magazine is published every three months with Turkish and English (summary) editions.

Between 2013 and 2020, Touring Magazine has been published without interruption every three months for the first time since its publication, in 5000 copies per issue with a total of 145,000 copies, and is delivered to our members, students, all libraries, universities, relevant public institutions and organizations and readers free of charge. Along with every issue, we present a book published by the Club and every December issue comes with a calendar. Readers can also access the Touring Magazine at turing.tr, which is included in the periodical collection of many libraries in terms of valuable information it contains.
